2023-2024 Concert Season

Led by saxophonist Rob Verdi and accompanied by piano, bass, and drums, this 4-piece ensemble explores over a half century of jazz while featuring instruments such as the sopranino sax, the smallest in the world, the 6 ½ ft. tall contrabass sax, one of the largest, and everything in between including an original 1880 saxophone from Adolphe Sax, the instrument’s creator. The program presents historic 1920’s hits, popular swing melodies and iconic jazz standards.

THE NORTH COUNTY WIND ENSEMBLE is back by popular demand and just in time for the Christmas Season. This San Diego based Wind Ensemble, with 50-plus members, are a collection of professional and amateur musicians of all ages. Under the direction of Vince Hernandez since 2002, NCW engages audiences and its members in playing Christmas programs, including traditional and popular hymns and holiday melodies. Celtic music with a Scottish flair! The acclaimed 6-piece group returns to perform the best music of Scotland and Ireland. Scotsman Brian Caldwell, (from Glasgow by way of Escondido, California), is joined by Paul Graham Castellanos, Sharon Whyte, Jim Soldi, Glen Fisher, and Bob Sale. A high-spirited evening of Highland Way’s favorite songs, jigs, reels and more – mixed with a healthy dose of friendly banter.

Exciting world fusion music with an unusual instrumentation: Clarinet and Guitar! The multi-cultural music ranges from Flamenco to Fado, Appalachian to Argentinean, and more. The artists connect with the audience telling them about the music, the cultures, and the Jaca adventures performing all over the globe. Portuguese-Canadian clarinetist, Wesley Ferreira is one of the prominent clarinetists of his generation. Award-winning guitarist, Jaxon Williams performs both classical and Spanish guitar, which he mastered on a Fulbright scholarship in Spain.
